Breckland Councillor defects to UKIP
The South West Norfolk branch of the UK Independence Party (UKIP) is pleased to announce that for the first time UKIP has a representative on Breckland District Council (BDC). This follows a decision by Councillor David Williams to join UKIP and leave the Independent Group at the Council.

Having served the people of the Nar Valley Ward for 16 years at Breckland Council, David is a highly experienced and effective District councillor. His proven track record shows he has worked hard to help local residents and to promote their interests. At odds with a Conservative Party which did not approve of his willingness to challenge policies he felt were detrimental to local residents, David recently became an Independent councillor at BDC and has now joined UKIP.
He said: "I am pleased to be joining a democratic party; one that trusts its members. This can only be a good thing to ensure full debate, and robust policy choices serving all residents not a minority. I am looking forward to the District election with fortitude."
David's determination to be the voice of local people will be welcome in UKIP where there is no formal Party whip, and the Party will also benefit from his additional experience as a Magistrate and member of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Governors Council.
His knowledge of Breckland Council will also be an asset as UKIP intends to put a number of candidates forward as District councillors to contest the May 7 elections.
